Who advanced? Who fell short? Who didn’t care? Did Jon give me sperm and did I like it? The answers to all these questions past the break.

Congratulations Winners and Losers, you’re moving on to the semi-finals. Two groups of four, and the top two will advance to the next round where they will play head to head in their respective brackets. I’m hoping for a semi-live event again. May record the contestants playing their boards ahead of time and sharing the vid in a Google doc for all to watch together (if such a thing is possible).
So were the disappearing letters a hinderance at all?
Did I explain horizontal/vertical well enough? A lot of you left a lot of points in your standard list that would have qualified.
Plurals! Always look for the plural. Also look for other forms of the word you just found. S, ED, and ER are your good friends.
It was nice to come across a unique word every once in a while after seeing the same ones a bajillion times between this and my own games I play: Greek’s “GRISTLE”, Todashy’s “YESTER”, and yes, I loved Jon’s “SPERM”.
Hope to have the next round out tonight. We’ll see.

I told this to Ryan already, but…ugh on that “long word” thing. I found several seven-letter words, then erased them and put them under standard when I found an eight. Turns out the eight-letter word isn’t actually on the board (it really looks like it is, but you can’t quite get there).
Oh well, good enough.

Congrats winners! This round was hard, but fun! Thanks for setting it all up, Ryan! I will happily watch the pros do their magic on some kind of live final.

I don’t know why I struggle so much with those horizontal/diagonal things. Yikes.
Also, definitely surfing around too much between categories still, but I was more disciplined this time.
Also, that disappearing letter thing did a number on me for the first, what, 30 seconds? I was sure I had a problem loading the board. Did everyone lose the same letters in the same order, or was it random?

Same letters, same order on a one minute loop. If it makes any of you feel better, I got myself, as I had to deal with it while checking words against the board. 🙂

Not only did I have the disappearing letters, but my board wouldn’t let me type answers. Totally bizarre. Thanks for the accomodation, adobes!

The disappearing letters thing didn’t get me. My network going down mid-game so that Google docs got stuck and I couldn’t type anything, and then me having to go in and out of the doc only to find it erased half my words, was what got me. Stupid networks that make games crash on me.

I think the important thing to note is that Bret has already lost twice.

I blame Casilla- whoops, wrong site.
I’m glad someone noticed that I sucked at this.

I was the only one not to have any words disallowed. That’s something I suppose.
(Also my 7-letter word actually had 7 letters, unlike Melissa’s)

“Streets” is 7 letters. Strikethroughs still count for the goals they are listed in.
February 7, 2014 at 11:27 am
Oh,… yeah. That’s a good point.

I’m pretty sure you’re not the first person to say that. 😉
