The next play-by-email word game will be Codenames. I’ve never played it but it sounds interesting. You can learn about it here. Basically, there is a group of 25 words which are the codenames of spies. Some belong to blue team, some belong to red team, and there is also an assassin and innocents in the mix.

Each team has a spymaster who knows which words belong to spies on their team. It is their job to give one word clues to get their teammate to correctly find one ore more of their team’s spies. The team who finds all their spies first wins. Incorrect guesses will help your opponent. Guessing the assassin will end your game.

Hoping for 12-16 players, but can probably accommodate any even number. Whether we play this round-robin, Swiss system, etc will depend on the number of signups.

Sign up by responding in the comments. You can choose your partner or let it be decided randomly.

In & Out

The game starts out with one person who picks a theme of some sort and is the only person who is “in”. He then lists three things that are part of that theme to get people started. Next, people start listing three things and anybody who is “in” will respond with yes or no to each of them. Once somebody puts down three things that are all “yes”, the people who are “in” will usually decide to declare him in (unless for some reason they are not sure that person has guessed the theme, but normally you just declare them in).

A sample game might go like this:

I post

red
blue
green

to start off the game. So Spooky guesses

orange
poop
dinosaur

to which I respond “Yes, no, no”. At this point, Spooky figures out that the theme is colors and guesses

magenta
cyan
black

To which I say “Yes, yes, yes. You are in.” Then Spooky can start answering yes or no to anybody’s questions. The game goes on until people decide to stop.

Let’s start out with a (hopefully) relatively simple one.

Starting singups for the next game after werewolf. It’s a new play by email game I came up with (maybe it exists already, I don’t know). Think of it as musical chairs crossed with Scattergories…kind of.

Each day you will be given a category. You provide an answer that fits that category. However, you do not want your answer to match anyone else’s answer. Everyone who provided the most popular answer will receive a strike. Three strikes and you are out.

The game will continue until there is only one person left. As the number of participants decrease, the broadness of the categories will decrease to match.

Alright guys and gals, its been a while so I thought it was about time to get a
new In and Out game going. For those of you who haven’t played this before
or may have forgotten, I have copied the directions below. It seems you guys
normally give up after a half a day of guessing, but I just had to do this one.

Your staring words:

Musical
Oscar
Unleashed

So good luck and don’t give up!

It’s been too long. If you didn’t try In and Out 9, I think it was awesome: http://spookymilk.wordpress.com/2012/09/13/in-out-9/

Here is a refresher to the rules or for those of you first timers.
