Achievement unlocked: Put my [redacted] in a jar of peanut butter.
-
Funny, I don’t remember writing that.
-
Why would it redact the word [redacted]?
-
Hmm… Starts with a “pen”…
-
Ends with a “cil.”
-
Gives my peanut butter that nice wooden taste.
-
Funny, I’d think it’d be more likely to make your [redacted] taste like peanut butter.
-
You would have to tell me!
-
That sounds like an awfully tempting offer.

Oh wait… that’s really more Nibs’ thing.

Also, Gilman, you aren’t by any chance from the city of the same name, are you?
Also, any interest in Werewolf?
-
I was born in NYC, grew up in Connecticut, and moved here in ’94. So no.
And Werewolf is interesting, but I tend to prefer my psychological games when done in person. I’ll keep an open mind, though.
-
I think you should give it a try. Of course, I’m trying to recruit people for the Arrested Development themed game, so there’s that.

Interesting: This is the second site on google’s search results for the three words.
Also interesting: What will happen if someone checks my search history here at work.-
-
Somebody found the site searching for “what challenges harrison bergeron face” today.
-
-
I tried searching just the first two, knowing full well ahead of time that it was a dumb idea.

That’s a mistake. You’re not allowed to show weakness at the casa.

Don’t be. I just honestly have no guesses even. The first one I had some thoughts about… this, I’ve got nothing.

Matthew, email me about the survivor challenge whenever you feel is appropriate. I’m out for the weekend. I’ll be thinking about In and Out the entire time, though.

I’m curious about whether this is a “words from X” (like last time) or a “word describing X” or some other sort of category. I think that would help a lot. Or maybe not at all, because there isn’t really a theme.

I would like to do the next one of these, by the way, but it’s another day shift here so I’ll only do that if I can start at around 5 Pacific.
Anyway, only three people have gotten this one, I think, so I’ve got ample time to think of a better theme than the one I’ve got.
-
I’ve got one. After I cracked this last night, I took my own and started writing out 50-100 words just to make sure that there were enough (and also to find some of the more fun ones). I’ll need to pick a night where I can be around as well.
-
-
-
-
I picked Institute because you said Institution was close. I picked Pond because I was working on the theory that every word ending in “nd” was in. I don’t even remember why I picked Meme.
-
-
I picked institute last night for the same reason.
So even if it was right, it was wrong.
I think you’ve close to cracking this.

Destiny’s Child says “No, no, no.”
Also, “Bills, bills, bills”

-
nuh-uh, nuh-uh, nuh-uh.
I guess I was wrong when I thought you were close. -
So if somebody were to explain the theme to me, would I say “Oh, that makes sense” or is there a chance I would say “I have no fucking idea what that is”, cause right now, these all just seem like random words to me.
-
No, if anyone tells you, you’ll go “Ohhh…. cool!”
-
-
-
HET, HET, HET (imagine those are Cyrillic letters).
But hey, each of those was sortof close!

Wow, it’s right there. I can’t believe it hasn’t been said yet either.
Well, I suppose it has now, but you know.

I haven’t figured this out at all. I haven’t spent much time looking at it, but I’m not coming up with any theme at all. I’m pretty sure this is one I’m not going to get. Unless… is there some particular threesome that would be helpful?
-
There are a few posts I made of ONLY theme-positive words. Bunches of them. You may want to focus on the posts people made just before they “got it.” In those cases, they were onto something and testing possible theories. Looking those over might inspire some paths to explore for yourself. And don’t forget my response to your “words from X” question.
-
Yeah, look at this post:
http://spookymilk.wordpress.com/2012/04/20/in-and-out-2/#comment-30171
The one that did it for me was “flaky” because that word just doesn’t seem to fit at all with the other words on that list.
-
I know. This is exactly what I’ve been doing, keeping in mind the “words that are X”.
Every theory that pops into my head (and admittedly, it’s been few) has been one that doesn’t actually work.
-
I wouldn’t think about that too hard. I’m not even sure I’d frame it that way…I think I’d say something like “Words with,” though it certainly can be done that way. In any event, it takes more than a few words to explain. Don’t spend much time thinking about that. The only thing I can say is: look at the entire list in every way you can think to do so.
-
-
-
-
I officially give up. I’ve thought up about a dozen good ideas for future challenges though.
Gilman, I’d congratulate you on stumping me, but I’m an idiot, and especially so at these types of things.

I don’t want to say all the theories I’ve eliminated, since some of them would make good categories in the future, but I’ve considered a metric ton of ideas. This is paintful. I don’t think any amount of more words will make me see what is there.
-
This one’s been going on a long time, and if you really do want to give up, it might be fine if I emailed you the answer.
In any event, I’ll probably put one up tomorrow morning or late tonight, so there’s no real reason to string it out forever.
Did hj ever find out what the first theme was?

I think your best bet is to make the three words very similar and discover if some work while some don’t. D’ghost did that earlier, and it looked like a smart approach to me.

I think whenever you post a new one you should post the answer to the last one. It feels kind of dickish to hold out on people if they can’t figure it out.

I’ll post both answers when I post mine tomorrow.

I just imagined a much more difficult variation on this theme that would make me numb. Absent a change in rules, not even the Peyton Manning of “In &

I know when I’ve been beat. I knew it several days ago, I just didn’t have the good sense to stop trying. This is pretty much how I predicted this game would go for me. I had nightmares about it last night. But it was pretty much a wash, since I also had a dream where Kelly had this jar of peanut butter…
-
I’m just waiting to hear what the theme is so I know if I should smack myself in the forehead or just shrug and admit I would have never gotten it.
-
With the number and depth of things I’ve considered (I mean, the phrases “parallel and intersecting lines” has entered my consciousness because of this one), I’m pretty sure I’ll not be smacking my forehead.
